New York City Chapter of Mothers & More Sponsors Major Event for the Women's Empowerment Network at YWCA

Mothers & More of New York City collected new or like-new purses for the women who call The YWCA of the City of New York home. “We believe that a purse is symbolic of a woman’s economic power, but it is also a practical everyday item that can help her feel put together". We hosted an event at the YWCA, 500 West 56th Street in New York City on Friday, June 3rd from 12:00 pm – 2:30 pm and closed the event by presenting the 45 ladies in the Women's Empowerment Network with the pocketbooks. In addition, we collected items to place in the purses.

At the event, Valerie Adelman gave a presentation on "Budgeting: A Balancing Act". Valerie is Certified Financial Planner (TM) practitioner and has her own business in Financial Planning and Tax Preparation. She is an active member of the Financial Planning Association (FPA). She is the former President and Chair of the FPA of New York and currently volunteers her time on their pro-bono committee as well as the President’s Counsel. She was a member of the faculty at both New York University and Pace University in the area of income tax planning.

Overall, we had tremendous support from local business owners including Moonsoup, Rachel Roy, Barclays Capital, L'Oreal, Blanche Sprangue Associates, Charles David NYC, FDI Pharmacy Discount Cards and the law firm of Snitow Kanfer Holtzer & Millus LLP and their support is appreciated. Finally, I would like to thank Virginia Trunkes, Christy Messina, Sharon Pomerantz and Brenda Yung for all their hard work.
