Mothers & More - Sponsors Event for Women's Empowerment Network at YWCA

Mothers & More is seeking donations of new or like-new purses for the women who call The YWCA of the City of New York home. “We believe that a purse is symbolic of a woman’s economic power, but it is also a practical everyday item that can help her feel put together". This year we will sponsor an event at the YWCA, 500 West 56th Street in New York City on Friday, June 3rd from 12:00 pm – 2:30 pm. and close the event by presenting the Women's Empowerment Network with the pocketbooks.

At the event, Valerie Adelman will give a presentation on "Budgeting: A Balancing Act". Valerie is Certified Financial Planner (TM) practitioner and has her own business in Financial Planning and Tax Preparation. She is an active member of the Financial Planning Association (FPA). She is the former President and Chair of the FPA of New York and currently volunteers her time on their pro-bono committee as well as the President’s Counsel. She was a member of the faculty at both New York University and Pace University in the area of income tax planning. She serves as a frequent lecturer on financial planning topics and has presented to groups at AARP, the Red Cross and the New York Public Library. Valerie also serves as Chairperson for Girls Incorporated of Westchester County, a nonprofit organization, where she participates in financial literacy programs for mothers and daughters.

Valerie is frequently quoted in the media and asked to speak on radio and television outlets. Some of her appearances include: The New York Times, The New York Post, Business Week and The Daily News, CNBC, Court TV and New York local affiliates for CBS and Fox.

Donated purses may be dropped off at Moonsoup located at 1059 2nd Avenue between 55th and 56th Streets in NYC. As you may know, all purses are tax deductible so we will provide tax receipts for donations made via email
