NYC's Power of a Purse Campaign - Success Story

Mothers & More of New York City launched a Mother’s Day campaign a few weeks ago called "Power of a Purse". The campaign is designed to raise awareness of mothers through the act of collecting new or gently used purses for mothers in need. The purse symbolizes a woman's economic power, something we wish for all women, especially mothers in need. No matter where a mother is on the social ladder, there is “power in her purse” having money of her own to provide for herself and her family.

We recently delivered 100 pocketbooks to the YWCA of the City of New York filled with items from a Pampered Chef consultant, Barclay's & Loreal. In addition, we assembled a team of Human Resource Professionals to donate their time by providing feedback on resumes for woman struggling to find a job or get a better job than they already have (a certificate for the service was included in 50 bags). The YWCA will distribute the bags through their Women's Empowerment Network which provides women with information and resources to inspire hope and establish a sense of saftey for their families. A second donation will be made in early June, click here to learn more: http://www.mothersandmore.org/chapters/NewYorkCity/index.php?&MMN_position=1:1
