Ancy Lewis, LCSW, is a gentle sleep coach committed to helping exhausted parents teach their children to sleep through the night. Ancy is passionate about helping people improve the quality of their family life since lack of sleep in children can disrupt their health and overall happiness in the home. She specializes in training children under the age of six, although her techniques can be effective for all ages.
On Wednesday, October 26th at 6:30 p.m, Ancy will discuss methods to prepare your child for daylight savings time which falls on Sunday November 6th this year. She will also discuss the "5 things likely keeping your child up at night," along with the best approaches to combat those triggers.

What's a Neuropsychological Evaluation? Does Your Child Need One?
Dr. Emily Lantz, a licensed clinical psychologist and neuropsychologist will partner with the NYC Chapter of Mothers and More on Wednesday, September 21 at 6:30 pm to discuss "What a neuropsychological evaluation is and how to know if your child needs one."
Dr. Lantz will review what to expect during the evaluation and how testing helps diagnosis between learning disabilities, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder and other developmental or acquired brain disorders. In addition, a neuropsychological evaluation helps parents better understand their child's strengths and weaknesses, intellectual abilities and academic needs (e.g. classroom and test accommodations) by providing a cognitive and learning profile for each child. The result of the evaluation is a comprehensive written report and a thorough review of tests results during the verbal feedback session.
The event will be held at MoonSoup (http://www.moonsoup.net/)
1059 2nd Avenue between 55th and 56th Streets in New York City

New York City Chapter of Mothers & More Sponsors Major Event for the Women's Empowerment Network at YWCA
Mothers & More of New York City collected new or like-new purses for the women who call The YWCA of the City of New York home. “We believe that a purse is symbolic of a woman’s economic power, but it is also a practical everyday item that can help her feel put together". We hosted an event at the YWCA, 500 West 56th Street in New York City on Friday, June 3rd from 12:00 pm – 2:30 pm and closed the event by presenting the 45 ladies in the Women's Empowerment Network with the pocketbooks. In addition, we collected items to place in the purses.
At the event, Valerie Adelman gave a presentation on "Budgeting: A Balancing Act". Valerie is Certified Financial Planner (TM) practitioner and has her own business in Financial Planning and Tax Preparation. She is an active member of the Financial Planning Association (FPA). She is the former President and Chair of the FPA of New York and currently volunteers her time on their pro-bono committee as well as the President’s Counsel. She was a member of the faculty at both New York University and Pace University in the area of income tax planning.
Overall, we had tremendous support from local business owners including Moonsoup, Rachel Roy, Barclays Capital, L'Oreal, Blanche Sprangue Associates, Charles David NYC, FDI Pharmacy Discount Cards and the law firm of Snitow Kanfer Holtzer & Millus LLP and their support is appreciated. Finally, I would like to thank Virginia Trunkes, Christy Messina, Sharon Pomerantz and Brenda Yung for all their hard work.

2011 Mother’s Day Campaign -- The Power of a Purse
Power of a Purse – Style Your Financial Future!
The annual Mothers & More Mother’s Day Campaign raises member and community awareness about key social and economic issues that affect mothers’ lives and well-being. Mother’s Day Campaign 2011 aims to activate the ways we think about our life-long financial health, empowering us to use the power of our purses more intentionally.
Purses symbolize a woman’s economic power, something we wish for all women, especially mothers in need. More than an accessory, a purse and its contents reflect the many roles and responsibilities mothers shoulder every day.
We are excited to introduce Empowered PURSE this year, a series of conversations that guides moms in a fun and unique way on our personal money journey. Power of a Purse also returns in its more familiar form: a community drive designed to draw attention to mothers’ economic issues through the act of collecting new or gently used purses for mothers in need.
More to come!

Free Workshop for Moms in New York City – “NO MORE LOSING IT : GETTING CALM WHEN OUR KIDS ARE NOT”
Tuesday, March 22 -- 6:30 p.m.
~~~ Sponsored by ~~~
Mothers and More - NYC Chapter (http://bit.ly/9u1SSP) and Moonsoup (http://www.moonsoup.net/)
1059 2nd Avenue (between 55th and 56th Streets)
New York City, NY 10022
Workshop – “NO MORE LOSING IT : GETTING CALM WHEN OUR KIDS ARE NOT”
When it comes to developing great relationships and great kids we know our children need us to be cool, calm and collected. Yet the biggest challenge in parenting is being cool, calm and collected. Why is it so hard and what we can do about it?
This informative and useful workshop will focus on how to stay calm even in the most stressful moments. You will leave learning how to increase your own maturity and how to decrease your knee jerk reactions when your kids push your buttons. And, let’s face it – our buttons are getting pushed all the time because our kids are masterful at finding them. Whether it is fighting us when putting them in the car seat, throwing food off the high chair or screaming at the top of their lungs when in-laws are over, not getting to school on time or not getting college applications done, they can get our blood boiling. How we ACT when our blood boils is what we have in our control and is the key to great parenting.
Learn how to:
• Control yourself instead of controlling your kids
• Observe, think, act
• Develop and follow your principles of parenting
• Build emotional and physical stamina
• Get to your thoughts rather than to your emotions
• Think about and focus on your responsibilities as a parent
• Control the buttons that most trigger you
Respond effectively to your kids tantrums, aggression, rude behavior, sibling battles, defiance and other frustrating behaviors
About the speaker ~~ Debbie Pincus, author and therapist:
For over 25 years, Debbie has maintained private psychotherapy practices in Manhattan, Larchmont, NY and Greenwich, CT. She is a Certified ScreamFree leader who works with individuals, groups, couples and families, specializing in anxiety and relationship issues.
