A MOTHERS & MORE THANK YOU

September 13, 2010 – Mothers & More of New York City launched a Mother’s Day campaign in April called "Power of a Purse". The campaign was designed to raise awareness of mothers through the act of collecting new or gently used purses for mothers in need. The purse symbolizes a woman's economic power, something we wish for all women, especially mothers in need. No matter where a mother is on the social ladder, there is “power in her purse” having money of her own to provide for herself and her family.

The New York City Chapter delivered 150 pocketbooks to the YWCA of the City of New York filled with items from a Pampered Chef consultant, Barclay's & Loreal. In addition, we assembled a team of Human Resource Professionals to donate their time by providing feedback on resumes for woman struggling to find a job or get a better job than they already have (a certificate for the service was included in 50 bags). Amy Ferris author of Marrying George Clooney, www.marryinggeorgeclooney.com/blog, donated a large number of books for inclusion in the bags.

The YWCA will distribute the bags through their Women's Empowerment Network which provides women with information and resources to inspire hope and establish a sense of safety for their families

Mothers & More is committed to creating a place for mothers to feel a part of a larger community of women who are experiencing the challenges that all mothers face, not only in raising children but also in fulfilling their sense of self and understanding society’s often mistaken assumptions about them. The organization addresses mothers’ needs as individuals and members of society and promotes the value of all the work mothers do.
